Film Overview
"Happy Together" is a dramatic, romantic funny movie launched in 1989. Directed by Mel Damski and composed by Craig J. Nevius, the movie strolls us on a journey of confusion, friendship and love. It starred Patrick Dempsey and Helen Slater leading a terrific cast, depicting the quirky appeal of New York City life.

Plot
The story focuses on two college-aged characters, Christopher (played by Patrick Dempsey) and Alexandra (played by Helen Slater). They are overall strangers placed in uncharted territory when their moms and dads, whom they deal with in their respective states, depart for a year in Turkey, and sub-let their houses to each other without understanding both their kids are still living in them. It sets the stage of an odd, uncomfortable and fun journey, of 2 disjointed characters being thrust together.

Personalities and Development
Christopher is a laid-back, unambitious sociology trainee who devotes the majority of his time to watching video game programs. Alex, on the other hand, is an overachieving economics student with dreams to sign up with the financial elite. At first, they discover each other to be incompatible with their own lifestyles and goals. However, undoubtedly, they need to learn to cohabitate and as they do, their lives intermingle and shape each other.

Conflict and Resolution
The friction in between the students forms the central dispute of the story. As they have a hard time to deal with their shared home and each other's polar-opposite characters, they experience numerous disputes requiring them to compromise and adjust. Their distinctions surface in numerous aspects, from the option of TV programs to the rules of living together. Despite the initial stress, they quickly start to establish an understanding and appreciation of each other's practices and interests.

Love and Evolution
Although they are opposite in many ways, Christopher and Alex eventually fall in love, leading the movie into the romantic portion of the plotline. However, their love is evaluated when Alex's ambitious nature leads her to take a task in New York that Christopher feels is turning her into an individual she's not. After a series of events, they reach an understanding where they recognize the value of being one's own self. This advancement stresses the main style of the movie indicating how people change and influence each other while interacting and living together.

The motion picture ends with Alex choosing not to take her task in New York, and she admits her love for Christopher. They decide together that they have a future, being 'Happy Together', albeit with a genuine acknowledgement of one another's uniqueness.

Conclusion
"Happy Together" is a heartwarming trough of youthfulness, love, dreams, and truth shaking hands with each other. The film is a blend of levity and major undertones, melding love and funny in a typical yet distinct fashion. The performances of Patrick Dempsey and Helen Slater wonderfully present the development of their characters from mere roommates to lovers, providing an engaging narrative about compromise, growth, and understanding.
